5 Essentials For Productivity

Working from my home office and getting things done on time can be very challenging sometimes. The phone is always ringing , catching up on daytime TV (Criminal Minds) ,checking emails  and all other distractions you can think of makes it hard to focus  and the next thing you know the day is over and nothing gets done..Here are some few tips that helps me stay focus and productive;

1)  Create a to do list.. Probably the most important tip. Create a list of the things you want to get done,daily or even weekly, jot them down . That way you get a written reminder ,keep track of them and tick them off one after the other as you go through your day. Trust me,this act as motivation when you get to see the progress you make after every completed task is being marked off.

2) Eliminate Distractions.. I mean TVs, emails, phone calls, instant messages etc.  I personally like everything switched off in order to get the work done,because a few seconds used to check emails can turn to a minute and then an hour or more on other things,and by the end of it all,a lot is being wasted on these while the important task is left uncompleted.

3) Stop Procrastination. I am guilty of  this almost every time. I am one person that loves to procrastinate, Im almost always looking for an excuse to get things done latter than now. This Im not proud of and its something Im working on improving everyday. Don’t push things that can be done now for tomorrow, most often you realize that the only problem you had was the laziness to begin. Once you start working on something,  everything immediately falls into place thus increasing productivity.

4) Find Quiet Time.. I happen to have an extra active mind,and hardly ever finding the time to quiet down and recuperate. This is an important aspect of productivity, we need to once in a  while find some quiet time for ourself to think and manage our many different ideas in mind. That quiet me time is something I force myself at every now and then to help manage my thoughts and thus increase my productivity.

5) Check in with someone… Its is important to have someone that check in with you every now and then on the things you have accomplished and give you meaningful and unbiased feedback. This is especially helpful if you work from home, where you can easily get drowned in distractions and procrastination .

These are my 5 essentials for staying focused and being productive. Are you  a small business owner looking to stay focused and increase productivity? Kabbage ´Provides small business loans´ and prides themselves on helping entrepreneurs increase productivity  in order to achieve their goals.
