It’s that time of year when it is nearly Spring but it still feels so far away. The weather isn’t great and there are those bitterly cold days where you just want to be snuggled up under a blanket, but you still have to go to work. The extreme temperatures are never good for your skin and so you need to take extra care of it in the winter. So, what do I mean about “SAD” skin? Well, I mean Seasonal Affective Disorder for your skin! Therefore, I have compiled a few tips to “cheer up” your skin in the winter:
Keep your skin hydrated
This should be an obvious one, but highly underestimated. Not only is drinking a ton of water great for your skin, but also using a hydrating foundation and lots of moisturizing cream is only going to be beneficial. Try to keep up with a daily routine of moisturizing and you will see positive results in no time!
Have oily skin?
It is always annoying to hear suggestions of using liquid foundations when you have oily skin – it’s only going to make your complexion look even greasier. The solution for this problem is to use a mineral-based foundation, as despite its easy application, it is rather dry like powder, meaning your skin won’t feel oily.
Using a darker shade
This one might sound a bit weird, as your complexion is usually at its lightest in the winter. Therefore, wouldn’t you use a lighter shade? However, everyone loves that summer glow and you will be longing for it during the winter months. So, a key trick is to use a foundation a shade darker, bringing warmth to your face throughout the winter months.
Wear Sunscreen!
“What? You must be joking now? I hear you say. Well, sort of… Yes, it is not summer and the sun has not got his hat on, but it is still out there and those harmful rays can still do damage to your skin. Now I’m not saying to sunscreen it up every time you go out, but perhaps get a foundation with SPF. A great way to protect your face daily and help get a flawless look is to use a tinted moisturizer with SPF! Go on, try it… you will be surprised how easy it is to get great-looking skin!
